I have the honour to transmit for your

consideration the enclosed copy of a letter from the Director

of Public Works recommending that in view of the sickness

which may occur among the Overseers employed on the construction

of the byewash reservoir at Tytan, and of the large works in

prospect, two additional Overseers with special knowledge

of water works construction should be obtained from England

at salaries of £160 and £300 a year respectively, to be defrayed

from the Votes for the works on which they are employed.

2.

I attach papers of particulars of the

offices in question and have the honour to endorse Mr. Chathan's

recommendation

one lozure 4 December,

3.

The difference in the proposed salaries

is accounted for by the fact that the Overseer at £160 per

annum would only be required on minor works while the one at £300 would be engaged on the construction of the extensive

waterworks scheme at Tytam Tuk when the work will be of a

very special nature.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

I have the honour to be, Sir,

Your most obedient

Humble servant,

Amore Akshake
